Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! By Marriott Johannesburg Melrose Arch

The shower design was ridiculous, water leaked everywhere, and who thinks a hair-clogged shower is acceptable in a hotel? The service at the bar was horrendous, with only one overwhelmed waitress attending to everyone. Honestly, for this situation, a complimentary treatment or upgrade would've been the bare minimum to expect. I almost gave a good review but just couldn't.

The rooms are reasonably sized and include an electric kettle and a refrigerator.

Came here for 3 days, the hotel was stunningly beautiful and cool, it had magnificent location right by shopping centres, and shops and restuarants. The room was contemporary and big where the shower is in the bedroom and with safe for safety measures:)))

The services were great, offered us good free Wi-Fi. Had well-appointed, tidy room that was kept clean. Location: the hotel was so close to many restaurants within the vicinity, retail shops and stores.

My experience began with a nightmare check-in process. And was instead directed to the wrong hotel, the African Pride, causing immense confusion and frustration. The staff at the alternative hotel were unhelpful, and it took multiple calls for the supervisor to resolve the situation. Such an inadequate handling of bookings is unacceptable for a hotel of this supposed caliber.

We only stayed one night.The service was friendly and efficient.The room was modern and comfortable.The situation is ideal for shopping and restaurants all close by.

The hotel is excellent! The location is brilliant: within the melrose arch complex and within minutes from Rosebank and Sandton. The decor of the hotel is very modern, we liked the "alice in wonderland" chair and the holywood theme. The rooms are spacious and the bed is very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. All in all one of the best hotels in Gauteng!

Make sure to ask for the hotel parking, as this is right under the hotel (but not easy to find on your own).

Be sure to explore nearby restaurants. The area offers a great variety of dining options within a safe enclave.

The lady at breakfast was super.

Your doorman on sat night was really rude,basing his idea of me on the way I was dressed and rudely asking "how can I help you" when I was checking in. I just feel that being in the tourism industry all those working at your establishment should know you can't group people just by looking at their dress code.

Loved the rooms, very clever design and everything one needs.

The Protea Fire and Ice! By Marriott in Johannesburg is a good gem! Comfortable rooms and an appealing outdoor pool provide relaxation, while the vibrant restaurant staff elevate the experience.

Have stayed in similar style hotel in Italy. This one definitely more bang for the buck. Staff was fantastic - courteous, efficient and accommodating.

Breakfast was good; Location is excellent with great restaurants and shops around; nice pool; cool design;

Staff not well trained; Maid took 40 min to make a fairly tidy room; loud music from night club opposite of street; some furniture seems not equipped for hotel use (broken lamps, etc.); light in lift is far too dark; Small rooms for 2; Too much silly attention ('Hello, how are you' from every member of staff every time you see them);
